Charter Parties PURPOSE
AND USE Vessels available for charter are not normally part of a scheduled steamship line fleet. International Letters of Credit forbid the use of Charter Party unless specifically stipulated in the credit. There are a variety of charter party agreements, such as Gencon (Baltic/White Sea), and Tanker Voyage. They are regulated and approved by their respective agencies or associations. Vegoilvoy Tanker Voyage Charter 1950 (VEGOILVOY 1950) Form Profile: This form is used for the shipment of petroleum and vegetable oil products in tank vessels. It also includes a bill of lading as part of the charter terms. VEGOILVOY contains many specific clauses relative to this specific type of cargo. Form Profile: The NYPE 93 charter party form was originally created for produce. Its principal use is now for general cargo other than bulk cargo and other than bulk liquid cargo. It is comprehensive and has been revised to add clauses commonly used as riders in previous evolutions to include issues such as Anti Drug Abuse and Stowaways. This form is approved by the Baltic and International Maritime Council (BIMCO) and Association of Ship Brokers and Agents (ASBA). New York Produce Exchange Time Charter 1946 (NYPE 46) Form Profile: The NYPE 46 charter party form is an earlier version of NYPE 93. Uniform General Party 1994 (GENCON 94 ) Form Profile: This is a widely used form which offers as a feature a free in and out (f.i.o.) clause. This addresses the responsibility of the charterers to load, or the consignees to discharge or unload the cargo. The form also features additional text for the United States in the General Average clause and clarification on responsibilities for duties and taxes. Tanker Voyage Charter 1977 (ASBATANKVOY 77) Form Profile: The ASBATANKVOY 77 is the most widely used charter form for the petroleum trade. It features special clauses addressing issues unique to tankship operations such as cleaning of tanks, pipes, and pumps. AND USE This document is used to tell the Customs broker at the destination port what method of inland transportation is to be used to transport the goods from the entry port to the buyer's place of business. PURPOSE AND USE Form Profile: This
form is used to provide
the shipper/exporter with proof that the goods have been delivered to
the
carrier in good order. The dock receipt is usually prepared by the
freight
forwarder and is required to be acknowledged by the carrier. Title to
the goods
is not conveyed since this is designated as a “non negotiable” form.
