PURPOSE AND USE
The Overland Bill of Lading is
known as a Straight Bill of Lading. It may be presented in several
formats. Each of these provides the required information for the inland
transport of goods by motor carrier, rail,or by a combination of these
modes. The form also serves as a contract for carriage between the
shipper and carrier. The Bill of Lading for inland transport has the following three purposes:
Bills of lading
covering transactions in the U.S. are defined by the Uniform Commerical
Code (UCC). Shippers may use either the "short form" or the "long form"
bill of lading. The difference is that the short form does not contain
the terms and conditions while the long form has the terms and

Hazmat Emergency Response Bill of Lading PURPOSE AND USE This
document is use to ship hazardous materials or a combination of
hazardous and non
hazardous materials on a domestic Uniform Straight Bill of Lading.
Required
information for hazardous materials includes the “HM” designation for
the
packages containing this type of material and the UN identification
number.
There is also a highlighted column for entering the Emergency Response
Guide
(ERG) Number where applicable. Blocks for the Emergency Contact with a
24- hour
