Hazard Class 2 Flammable Gas Red Label  - Flammable gases in Division 2.1, such as hydrogen, acetylene, and propane, require a red label with a flame icon on the top and the number 2 at the bottom.  (W40-425R)

Hazard Class 2 Non-Flammable Gas Green Label -  Non-flammable gases in Division 2.2, such as nitrogen, refrigerants, and other inert gases, require a green label with a cylinder icon on the top and the number 2 at the bottom. (W40-430R)

Hazard Class 2 Toxic Gas White Label - Toxic gases in Division 2.3, such as chlorine, require a white label with a "skull and crossbones" icon on top and the number 2 on the bottom. In the US, these materials are called Inhalation Hazards and the label is slightly modified to contain a black background behind the "skull and crossbones." This modified label is required for toxic gases transported into or within the United States. (W40-433R; W40-434R)

Hazard Class 3 Flammable Liquids Red Label - Flammable liquids in Class 3 include common materials such as fuels, paints, solvents, and alcohols. The flammable liquid label is red with a flame icon at the top and the number 3 at the bottom. (W40-460R)

Hazard Class 4 Flammable Solids Red/White Striped Label - Flammable solids in Division 4.1, such as matches and certain self-reactive substances, require a red and white striped label with a flame icon at the top and the number 4 at the bottom. (W40-455V)

Hazard Class 4 Spontaneously Combustible Solids Red/White Halved Label - Spontaneously combustible materials in Division 4.2, such as certain metal powders, require a 1/2 red and 1/2 white label with a flame icon on the top and the number 4 on the bottom. (W40-510R)

Hazard Class 4 Dangerous When Wet Blue Label - Materials which will create flammable gases when in contact with water are assigned to Division 4.3. They require a blue label with a flame icon on the top and the number 4 at the bottom. (W40-515R)

Hazard Class 6 Toxic Substances White Label - Toxic materials in Division 6.1, such as cyanide solutions and pesticides, require a white label with a "skull and crossbones" at the top and the number 6 at the bottom. (W40-423V)

Hazard Class 6 Inhalation Hazard White Label - Certain highly toxic materials in Division 6.1, which are toxic specifically by inhalation, require a modified hazard class label when transported into or within the US by any mode. This label includes a black background behind the "skull and crossbones."  (W40-424R)

Hazard Class 6 Toxic Substances White PGIII Label - Certain materials that have low toxicity, such as tetrachloroethylene, and which have been assigned to Division 6.1 packing group III may display an alternative label that includes the words "PG III." This label is used primarily for air shipments and has replaced the now obsolete "Keep Away From Food" label.  (W40-777R)

Hazard Class 6 Infectious Substances White Label - Division 6.2 includes substances such as virus cultures and potentially infectious blood samples. These materials require a white label with three crescents superimposed on a circle at the top and the number 6 at the bottom. The lower portion of the label must contain information on who to notify in the event of damage or leakage. (W40-600R)

Hazard Class 8 Corrosives White Over Black Label - Corrosive materials in Class 8 require a unique hazard class label that is 1/2 white 1/2 black. The upper portion of the label contains a pictogram indicating that these materials are corrosive to both steel and human skin. (W40-485R)

Hazard Class 9 Miscellaneous Hazardous Black/White Striped Over White Label - Materials which do not meet the specific hazard class definitions of Classes 1 though 8 but which are still regulated by national or international regulations, are included in Class 9. This Miscellaneous Hazard Class includes materials such as dry ice, environmentally hazardous substances, and elevated temperature materials. These materials require a white label with the top 1/2 containing black and white stripes. The bottom of the label displays the number 9. (W40-545R)
