Purpose and Use:
The EASI-SLI™ Exporter AES & Shipper Instructions™ (EASI-SLI™) form is designed for exporters that authorize their freight forwarder to file their Electronic Export Information (EEI) through the Automated Export System (AES). Mandatory AES filing went into effect October 2, 2008. This form is valuable to those exporters that do not file their own Electronic Export Information through AES. The EASI-SLI™ form is an efficient and effective way for the exporter to communicate to the freight forwarder the required information by which the freight forwarder can accurately and completely make an Electronic Export Information (EEI) filing through AES.
The multi-part form set allows the exporter to maintain a written record of what was conveyed to the agent and provides the forwarding agent with a copy to be returned to the exporter with XTN and ITN recorded. The XTN is the External Transaction Number; an Automated Export System (AES) formatted reference number commonly assigned by the forwarder when Electronic Export Information (EEI) input is made to AES. The ITN is the Internal Transaction Number that is assigned by AES to an EEI submission once the submission has been received and accepted. It is the equivalent of a confirmation that filing has been accepted. These are important data elements that an exporter needs to maintain a record of. In this way, your five-year government recordkeeping requirements are fulfilled!
- Exporter Copy - fill out and send on to your forwarder
- Agent Copy - your forwarder will add final AES and shipping details
- Return to Exporter Copy - is returned to the Exporter with the final AES filing and shipping details
- File Copy - to be kept by the forwarder as a record
Once the form is signed by the exporter, the freight forwarder has written authorization to act on its behalf in filing the electronic export information through AES. The form allows the exporter to convey logistical information related to how the shipment is to be transported to its overseas destination.
Avoid penalties and fines! The civil penalties for not timely filing AES can be $1,100 per day. Civil penalties for inaccurate or incomplete information can be up to $10,000 per violation. Violations of export licensing requirements improperly conveyed through AES can start at $250,000.
